AO CMF NA Course—Orthognathic Surgery: Current Trends and Clinical Perspectives

March 16, 2024 - March 17, 2024
Dallas, Texas, USA

The evolution of Orthognathic principles and practices, combined with knowledge of recent advances, helps the clinician more effectively treat challenging clinical problems. Coordinated comprehensive treatment planning primarily between the orthodontist and the orthognathic surgeon will help improve patient outcomes and decrease complications. Continuing education benefits clinicians by exposing them to new knowledge in the field, which in turn, leads to improved patient outcomes.

The course format which features both AO CMF International and North America expert faculty, will focus on ways to incorporate advanced technology such as computer-aided surgery and patient specific implants in treating orthognathic patients. The format will include short presentations from experts in the field combined with small group discussions with the participants and faculty. There will also be a virtual planning session where the attendees can work directly with an onsite engineer to plan orthognathic cases. Additionally, a laboratory session will include performing orthognathic surgical osteotomies on bone models with cutting guides and patient specific implants. Notably the workflow beginning with clinical exam, followed by virtual planning and leading to performing the surgical procedure, will be highlighted.
