AO CMF NA Internet LIVE Webinar - AO CMF NA Double Wall Orbit Fractures

This presentation will discuss the management of “double wall" orbital fractures, which involve a blow-out of the orbital floor as well as the medial orbital wall. The presentation and discussion will focus on indications, surgical approaches, and materials utilized in the repair of such injuries. Specific attention will be turned towards the combined transcaruncular-transconjunctival approach, which provides excellent access for reconstruction of the orbit. Cases will be presented of different patient scenarios and audience participation will be encouraged.

Expected results of AONA's CME activities for surgeons, fellows, and residents are to:
• Increase their knowledge base and surgical skill level
• Improve competence by applying advances of knowledge in patient care in the areas of trauma, degenerative disorders, deformities, tumors, and reconstructive surgical techniques
• Address practice performance gaps by improving management of aspects of traumatic injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (i.e., pre-operative planning to post-operative care)
- Describe several surgical approaches available in the management of orbital blowout fractures
- Understand the benefits and downsides in the usage of various materials utllized in orbital fracture repair
- Elucidate the various steps performed in the transcaruncular and transconjunctival approaches to the orbit
