AO CMF NA Course—Computer Aided Maxillofacial Surgery (with Human Anatomical Specimens)

November 11, 2022 - November 13, 2022
Tampa, Florida, USA

AO CMF North America presents this advanced course in computer-aided maxillofacial surgery. Lectures by distinguished world-renowned experts covering topics in congenital, post-trauma & oncologic reconstruction, intra-operative imaging, navigation, microvascular and orthognathic surgery will be presented.

After the lecture series, participants will complete 3 different surgical modules:
1) Post traumatic orbito-zygomatic reconstruction
2) Mandibular reconstruction (fibula free flap)
3) Orthognathic reconstruction

Participants will first perform a virtual reconstruction (pre-surgical plan) for each scenario. Then participants will move into the lab to complete the pre-planned surgical repair. The laboratory session will include access to intra-operative imaging tools (navigation and CT) which will give the participants real time feedback during the repair. Finally, the participants will be able to compare their pre-surgical virtual plan to the actual reconstruction.

Upon completion, participants should be able to:
  • Display current knowledge regarding computer aided surgical planning and intra-operative navigation in the field of maxillofacial surgery
  • Identify appropriate applications for computer aided pre-surgical planning and intra-operative navigation for treatment of traumatic, neoplastic and congenital diseases
  • Discuss the applicability of computer aided techniques when analyzing postoperative results and outcome analysis
  • Demonstrate the psychomotor skills to necessary to perform both pre-surgical planning and intra-operative navigation
  • Generate a pre-surgical plan using computer aided planning software
  • Apply intra-operative navigation to guide fracture reduction and hardware placement
